Sinusitis is a condition that almost everyone experiences at least once in their life. This condition, which is divided into two subgroups, has different symptoms and progressions. Acute sinusitis generally occurs in the context of viral infections, upper respiratory tract disorders, and health problems such as the common cold. Chronic sinusitis manifests itself as inflammation of the sinus pathways, which may include polyps, lasting for at least 3 months.
Receiving a diagnosis of acute sinusitis at least once in life does not mean that the same diagnosis will persist throughout life. Acute sinusitis can recur, and its treatment is antibiotic therapy.

What is Sinusitis?

Sinusitis is a type of upper respiratory disorder caused by the inflammation of the sinus cavities. Environmental factors may contribute to the development of this condition, or the presence of structural abnormalities in the nasal cavity can lead to a diagnosis of sinusitis.

How is Sinusitis Treated?

The treatment of sinusitis varies depending on the type diagnosed. In the treatment of acute sinusitis, the use of tablets and sprays is generally recommended. Regular use of these medications is very effective in eliminating the effects of acute sinusitis.
For treating chronic sinusitis, the first preferred treatment method is medication therapy. However, preventing nasal polyps is not possible with medication alone. Medications can only help in the recovery phase following nasal obstruction surgery, but ultimately chronic sinusitis may reappear. For this reason, in patients diagnosed with chronic sinusitis who struggle to maintain their daily lives due to the condition, the option of surgery is always considered in their treatment.

Can Nasal Aesthetic Surgery Be Used to Treat Sinusitis?

There is curiosity about whether sinusitis can be treated with nasal aesthetic surgery. Nasal aesthetic surgery and sinus surgery target different areas. As a result, both surgeries can be performed in the same session.
